Real Self Defense for Women
There is a certain type of mentality that thinks if you make certain inanimate objects illegal their criminal misuse will disappear!

Re: Real Self Defense for Women
Thanks! Excellent essay and a website of many other excellent essays.
One, "Martial Arts and Self Defense" contained this priceless quote:
"In the last year there was a story of an old WWII paratrooper who defeated an assailant 50 years his junior that was armed with a knife. I am guessing this guy didn’t practice his combatives drills on a daily basis anymore or keep up with his airborne PT. I don’t think he would have won a foot race against his assailant and he probably didn’t have a full round in him. What he did have was the confidence of a few years of Nazi killing and decided he had a plan to deal with it. He started fighting before his assailant knew he was going to be in a fight."
More than not bringing a knife to a gunfight, one needs to bring the correct mindset to the fight. The top German Ace of WW2, Erich Hartmann, with 350+ kills, once said that half his victims didn't even know he was in the sky.

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

Wasn't Hartmann the guy who turned out to have preternaturally good eyesight? He had seen and killed his targets before they even knew there was a fight on.Windy Wilson wrote:The top German Ace of WW2, Erich Hartmann...
Someone posted long ago (previous forum) about an old-time FBI(?) officer who was the designated gunfighter of his day. It turned out he could actually see the bullets of his .38spl in flight. Again, amazing eyesight gave him the killing edge.
