Boadacious,Boker Bowie Knife on sale

Post by SeekHer »

Anyone looking for a really great CAS or BP rendezvous knife. A.G. Russell has a Boker, 6.125 inch, stag handled, double brass quillions, Tree Brand, Argentine made Bowie available on sale for $99.00—better hurry, only five left of this discontinued model…really great knife, extremely sharp and holds it…the girls bought two for their own getups at BP events when they were first introduced about 8 or so years ago…

Wohoo. Thanks for the tip, SeekHer. I just ordered one. Now they have two left.

That's the same knife Böker sells in Germany as the "Arbolito Alamo II", for 111 Euro. They also make one with wooden scales (the "Arbolito Alamo I") which is a bit cheaper. Even with shipping, it's going to cost me less to buy it from A.G. Russell than from Böker. Viva globalisation!

My knife just turned up in the post, and it's every bit as nice as SeekHer said - I'm delighted. I'll take it hunting next week.

Kudos to A.G. Russell. Unlike other vendors who insist on using UPS, DHL or FedEx and passing on their exorbitant prices, Russell charged me only USPS postage at cost. Had the Belgian customs not charged me an additional 10 euro for the privilege of receiving my own property I'd be even happier... Grrr.

Any care tips for the nice new blade, SeekHer?

If you want any AG Russel's in the future, AG the fourth is a good buddy of mine. Just let me know. Speaking of which, I have a pile I can send you now that you returned...

Noooo, now CC finds me another source of "bargains"...

Seriously though, CC, you may certainly tell Mr Russell that I approve of his business - fast, efficient and reasonably priced.

I'll be in touch about about your piles

I should have got you to have ordered some Rust Free from AG—oops, wasn't thinking...Best stuff out there! Expensive, but a drop does a 8" tactical, both sides...Get C.C. to get it for you and send it with his [strike]hemorrhoids[/strike] piles or order it direct…Order Nbr. RF125 $6.95 when ordered with something else, $8.95 otherwise but they’ll usually send it at the lower amount with a bit of a tear in your eye and a blubber in your voice…[strike]Good[/strike] Great Customer Service!

Give it a light sharpen after every use--steel or stone is fine and a dab, a miniscule little drop, of oil to keep the blade nice but DO NOT store it in its sheath...I keep the sheath in the box it came in and just put the knife on top of it...

Do be afraid to use it to cut the veggies for your salad or to trim the fat off your steak…Knives are meant to be used not just looked at! Although tomatoes and Damascus should be avoided as they will stain the blade…

I still take out a half dozen or so knives from the display and give them to the girls to chop their veggies for salad or cooking, trim meat, slice fruit and cheese…They then clean them, give them a touch and a strop and they get put back in the cabinet and another six come out the next day…

I used to display my knives in wooden blueprint cabinets that I had gotten from an uncle's architectural firm and another's engineering company as well as a metal one...they all came with bases that had doors covering three sets of shelves in two and the third had two tiers of drawers...I lined the blueprint drawers with billiard cloth (lots cheaper then felt) and displayed the knives there and kept the boxes and sheaths below in the storage portions...

Haha. Thanks. I'll impose on CC again, no doubt. I'll just blame you when his piles keep growing... I rubbed a single drop of ATF on the blade for the moment, and it's living in my desk drawer on top of its leather sheath. I took it hunting recently, and I didn't feel at all underdressed.

Maybe I'll carve Christmas dinner with it, just for fun... I just spotted today that Boeker make a matching knife and fork set. Wouldn't that be nice?

I've had my eye out for a set of those blueprint drawers for ages. My architect friends have all been warned to snag any that become surplus to requirements. Goodness knows where I'd put it, but we'll cross that bridge later...

When I was hunting, I found that the professional foresters all carry, and swear by, Mora 2000 utility knives. The cheapest handy source of those (outside of hardware shops in Sweden) is, curiously enough, a German insurance company which specialises in hunters' insurance. Scroll down that page. I ordered two each of the "Mora 2000" and the "Frosts".

Sorry, but that is a picnic set not a carving set and as far as I know Boker has never made a carving set...

It would be great if everyone had a set of those for a Jagerfest but at Euro 75,00 for the wooden scales and 99,00 for the stag for 10cm blades...

Their Yadama series of knives is very similar to the knife sets I gave the girls although with about a quarter or a third the layers...

My mistake. I meant that I might carve the Christmas roast with my bodacious new bowie knife, and then eat it with the picnic set. I've got to shoot something to roast first, though :?

This hunting trousse looks like a fun alternative. Reckon it's any good?
