Maybe worth a look, Scrapper 5 in SR101

That thread on the Bear Grylls knife, and where it led (RAT Cutlery, SRKW, etc) got me to thinking. Someone looking for a good general-purpose knife with a ~5" blade might want to take a look at the new Scrapper 5 here.

People are calling it (both on the Swamprat and Scrapyard forums, anyway) sort of a Scrapyard tribute to the SRKW Ratmandu. Similar dimensions (blade length, thickness, overall length), similar blade profile... just with a slightly squared off choil and res-c mudder grips (hey it's Scrapyard). Busse heat treat of 52100 steel, for cheap. Should be a winner.

To update this thead- the Scrapyard has stopped taking orders for the Scrapper 5, the production run has finished and all the orders placed have been filled. People love them. So if you want an SR101 Scrapper 5, you're going to have to find one on the secondary market.

However, as a followup (and this has a number of people wetting themselves in excitement) the new offering from the Yard for which they are now taking orders- is the Scrapper 5 LE, in INFI. Yep, INFI. And it only costs 90% more than the SR101 "CG". Heh.

That means extremely well-designed 5" utility blade in satin-finish, uncoated INFI for less than $200.
