$450 is about half the price I usually see for Patton swords, but the ones I look at have scabbards, which significantly increase the value of the sword.
If it is marked SA (Springfield Armory), buy it. SA swords all have a serial number.
If it is marked LF&C with no serial number, don't bother. You can probably find one with a scabbard for not much more.
