The place to talk about knives, swords, edged weapons, sticks and impact weapons, restraints, and and the techniques and tools for preparedness and survival without firearms.
I still have my old crossbow, bought at K-Mart in the 1980's. It has a 150lbs draw and with it I've consistently shot soda cans at 50 yards (and they'd go all the way though). I've even put wood crossbow bolts through old car doors at 50 yards (not through the glass), so I have a hard time believing a crossbow of 150lbs draw wouldn't kill a man at 100 yards. I think it would be quite easy and very quiet. Add a broadhead to it and you've got something extremely lethal.
Just don't let your fingers ride up above the top of the frame rails the string travels across. I did that ONE TIME, and I would have sworn to God that someone had taken my thumb and smashed it with a 16lbs sledge hammer. And it was only the tip of my thumb. You only do that ONCE, unless you REALLY like punishment and pain.
Crossbows recoil differently than guns. It might take a bit to get used to it, but they're VERY accurate (using a gun stock and all).
I think they make GREAT weapons, so I even have a crossbow handgun for shooting gophers in the yard.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad
