Wife opened a company -- is the previous one defunct? That's a common warranty and debt avoidance ploy.
As for those warranties, I think of FEDEX, "on time or you don't pay!" where you send some proposal or other document for some zillion dollar project somewhere, and it does not show up for three days, during which you lose that zillion dollar project, but you won't have to pay for the FEDEX!

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
