Chris, what are ranger bands?
Addendum,
Lipton cup of Soup or similar,
Oriental noodle soup packs--the bowls that just need water added,
Sun screen,
Bug spray,
Topical cream like Lanacaine for minor cuts and scrapes,
Band-Aids,
Individual packets of salt, pepper, vinegar, ketchup, hot sauce, soy sauce, honey, maple syrup, jams and marmalade available in bulk from any restaurant supply house,
Rubber gloves--industrial not surgical—best if they are solvent tolerable,
Surgical facemasks--great when the wind is blowing sand at you, which is always...soak them in a strong solution of tea to change their colour from blue to an ochre shade...
Dry shampoo is a gift from the gods as is Deodorant Stones (available from Health Food/Alternative stores)--they actually work very well!

There is a certain type of mentality that thinks if you make certain inanimate objects illegal their criminal misuse will disappear!

To my knowledge, they are really thick black Rubber bands used for everything from making jungle mags to attaching gear to the LBE suspenders. Of course, they stopped issuing LBE suspenders but a few hard chargers still use them(I prefered them but they don't mix well with the new Molle Body Armor)SeekHer wrote:Chris, what are ranger bands?
Of course I've been wrong before, so Chris might have to jump in if I'm mistaken.

Googlage finds this for Ranger Bands:

I've got a whole bunch of Clancy, Le Carre, MacLean, etc. paperbacks in my basement somewhere. I'll dig around for them.

Yup, that's what I was thinking of! Never used them myself and I never saw anyone use them other than to secure a bayonet/fighting knife on a LBE once. Not sure if they would be very useful in the field though. 550 Cord usually does the job.rightisright wrote:Googlage finds this for Ranger Bands:

definitely gun rags. we wore those out reading&rereading at sea. It was NRA mags at sea that converted me to membership and RKBA activist.

my local dollar store has packets of sugar-free drink mixes, eight in a box, for $1. Two of the packets makes a canteen... might pick some up.

I know they can now get Bore Snakes through the supply system, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're getting them in the field. Are they still being requested?
What about Silly String? I know at one point it was a hotly requested item for doing house searches & spraying for trip wires.
