Death in the Corn.

[strike]I can't work out how to post the link without messing the screen up[/strike]. Go to his site and check it out. (above link by mods, it goes to Part I)

G-d bless him for going into harms way to tell the truth.

Our Para's are the epitomy of fighting soldiers. Human pit bulls.

I used to go poaching with a guy who was ex 1 Para. I like to think I'm pretty sneaky in the woods but he moved like a ghost. The land we were poaching on was around the police helicopter base, that thing makes me nervous because it's got FLIR but the Para could tell how far away it was by the sound of it's rotors and knew how to hide from it.
Once he tried to take us across some railway tracks with 10 foot high fencing topped by barbed wire. He explained that all we had to do was climb 15 feet up a tree and drop down the other side. I have smashed up legs held together with metal pins and told him there was no way I could do that. He laughed at me at said " do you want me to carry you over, you poof ? "
That made me so angry I wanted to punch his lights out ( but he'd have dropped me in 5 seconds flat ) - didn't he understand I was partially disabled ?
I was so mad I hauled myself up the tree with my arms doing most of the work and managed to get to the other side covered in scratches and bruised to hell.
The Para followed and I turned away from him because I was still fuming, but he put his hand on my arm and said in a non joking tone of voice " See ? you can do it ". He knew what button to push to get me over that obstacle.

Don't you hate it when someone can get into your head like that?

Seriously, though, Michael Yon is one of the few journalists that I trust, partly because he's been out where it's dark and scary, so he knows what he's talking about; and partly because he tells the truth, regardless of who it pisses off. (Also, his reporting backs up a lot of what I've heard from other boots-on-the-ground folks.)

His story about the Christian church in Baghdad still causes some me some eye problems every time I read it.
