I haven't been able to verify it, but it appears to be true:

Subject: Largest Ceremony In History (and unreported)
Attached are pictures of what is reputedly the "largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history." The ceremony was held July 4, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad, Iraq. General Petraeus officiated. A pizzeria in Chicago donated 2000 pizzas that were made just prior, shipped to arrive in Baghdad on the 3rd and were provided to the enlistees on the 4th. The main stream media did cover the gift of 2000 pizzas to soldiers in Iraq. But they failed to report on the cause for this gift -- it didn't fit the MSM's portrayal of the "hollow force, poor morale," etc. This is a sterling example of how they highlight their intellectual deceit daily.
This enormous re-enlistment occurred on 4 July in Baghdad - there were approximately 1200 total REUPs. For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you'll have a better estimation of the number of people crammed in the rotunda.
Enclosed pictures of the reenlistment ceremony. It echoes that all of the young men and women in these photos know that what they are doing is imperative to regional and world peace, and they want to continue to be part of it. Somehow this did not make it to network/cable news broadcasts.

Mike are you "really" suprised that something like this didn't make the network news? Come on now really

Me surprised it wasn't in the regular media??? Not in the least, but I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it until now. It came out in the Army Times on July 8th - unfortunately without photos. My military sources are slipping:clyde621 wrote:Mike are you "really" suprised that something like this didn't make the network news? Come on now really
1,215 re-enlist in massive ceremony in Iraq
Staff report
Posted : Tuesday Jul 8, 2008 10:03:19 EDT
It was standing room only Saturday at the Al Faw Palace in Baghdad as 1,215 service members raised their right hands in an unprecedented mass reenlistment ceremony.
The service members were brought to Camp Victory from forward operating bases and camps all over Iraq, according to a Multi-National Force-Iraq news release, which stated that it was the largest re-enlistment ceremony to take place since the all-volunteer force began in 1973.
MNF-I commanding general Gen. David Petraeus read the oath at the ceremony for the soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors.
“Volunteering to continue to serve our nation, while deployed … is both noble and inspiring,” Petraeus said in the release. “It is, as award citations often state, in keeping with the finest traditions of our military services.”
The joint re-enlistment represents more than 5,500 years of combined additional service in uniform.
“We recognize the sacrifices they make and the sacrifices their families and communities make as they serve in Iraq,” MNF-I command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin L. Hill said in the release. “These servicemembers know the cost of war and they are still re-enlisting.”

I guess. However a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case at least 1200
