WWII Rare Aircraft

These appear to be mostly experimental or prototypes. I'm not that much of a student of WWII aircraft, but found this site pretty interesting.

Just looking at the pics of the US stuff is prettty interesting. I've seen quite a few of them before, and have flown RC models of several, including the Flying FlapJack in 1/4 scale.

But the one that caught my eye was the "BELL XP-63 PINBALL MANNED AERIAL TARGET"

Excuse me??? MANNED AERIAL TARGET???

Who volunteers to fly that one?

The Pinball was a heavily armored P-63, and it was shot at by gunners using frangible bullets.

Nevertheless, I sure wouldn't volunteer for that duty.
