TORONTO — The War Resisters Support Campaign says a former U.S. soldier living in Nanaimo, B.C., has been told he must leave Canada by Dec. 24 or face removal by force.

Cliff Cornell, originally from Arkansas, arrived in Canada in January 2005 after refusing to deploy to Iraq, and he now works as an assistant manager of a retail store.

Cornell’s deportation order follows similar orders for war resisters Corey Glass, Jeremy Hinzman and his family, Patrick Hart and his family, Matt Lowell and Dean Walcott.

Fucking cowards. They signed up, they have to serve. They ought to deploy them anyway, then make them serve time in Leavenworth. Who wants to bet the chosen one gives a pardon?

Oh brother...you have no idea how this whole thing sets my hair on fire. Leavenworth would be just the first step for me...if it were in any way possible I would have them stripped of their citizenship and be made persona non grata in this country. Yeah, my contempt runs that deep for these fuckers.

What makes our brethren in the Great White North think we even want those worthless mother....ers back?

I would agree, BUT - if you were in the Sandbox, would you want one of these zeroes in your unit?? Disgusting that they wouldn't have to face the same dangers as their once-peers, but I think a LONG time in Leavenworth is more in order.

Yeah, these guys need to be tried for stupidity on top of desertion. Like, man, I signed up for the Army, and now they are like telling me to go to Iraq man! What's up! Not Cool!
When was the last 4 year period when the US military was not deployed to a place with bad guys with AKs?

Cu74, I am sure the military needs someone to clean all those minefields.

What? Cleaning my latrines? Cleaning Iraqi latrines? They could call it "the dirty dozen" for the civil affairs wonks.

What would be wrong with turning the deserters into low-tech IED destroyers?
