He's supposed to be a lawyer, that doesn't mean he's ever actually "practiced" law before.

Well he's been handed degrees, but there's little indication he learned anything and in his student days he certainly never produced anything - a credentialed 'scholar' with no output. (And his later books were ghostwritten, but let's not pile on.)
