Was there supposed to be a link in there somewhere? I would live to see what they'd offer as an SR-71 simulator. :o

The P-47 Thunderbolt. Without a doubt, my favorite aircraft of all times, built like an American built things back in the good ole days.

It brought home plenty of pilots who should have sat out the rest of the war in a POW camp, but instead they flew it back to England, across the Channel, and to a (relatively) safe landing.

I don't think that that any other single-engined plane can take as much credit for crushing Hitler's war machine.

I can only imagine the fuel consumption rate when those are running at full-bore. The bubble covering the fuel pumps on those engines is HUGE.

Ok, while I can not argue with any of the selections made up to this point I almost can't believe no one has even given at least an "honorable mention" to one of the sexiest aircraft out there. This is of course the aircraft the was the face of and practically defined the Navy for so many years and have left generations of former, current and future Naval Aviators in tears that they will no longer have the opportunity to fly it...

This is of course the F-14 Tomcat.

tcourtplayer: Just because the movies say they will be dumb and slow doesn't make it true.

The B1 "Bone"

One of most underated aircraft - you almost never hear phanboi chatter, but the bone hauls more ordinance than either the B2 or B52(up to 135K lbs including external pylons), and unlike those two, the B1 is supersonic. It (with only 12 aircraft!)dropped 70% of precision munitions in Iraq.. That's not out of bombers, but out of all aircraft!

The drone that's quickly becoming the AF's defacto terrorist killer.

One of the most versatile aircraft around. It's the reason why Britain still has Aircraft carriers.

Whattayamean not mentioned?! I said it in the very first post. Didn't put up any pictures, sadly, because all the ones I have readily accessible are on my other computer, and this computer doesn't like finding pictures online very much... Yeah, it kinda sucks, but what can you do?
