A beard is number one on my list of things to do! It only takes me a week to grow a good one.

Thank YOU for your service!!! Don't be surprised if you miss wearing your cammies from time-to-time!! I still miss many of my squadron-mates!! Keep in touch with those you cherish, 'cause 20+ years from now, you'll be real happy to reconnect once in a while!!

As I've said before, my inner First Sergeant hates to see promising young people leave, but given the current economic/political climate, I can't fault anyone who seeks greener pastures on the other side of the fence.

Good luck, keep in touch, and, to echo all the others, thank you for your service!

She got out in 2012 and now works for a friendly, dinosaur-recycling company.

I grew a beard and let my hair grow long; the beard lasted a month, the hair about 4 years. If you're coming through El Paso, let us know. We'll be gone Friday through Sunday of this week but are free otherwise. Cot and hot overnight, if you want.

Thanks for the service. And like Rod says, if you are headed west on I-40, we are only 30 minutes south of Ashfork and have two spare bedrooms and a new house to show off.

Good luck with employment. It can be ridiculously easy or stupid difficult to find a GOOD job.

If you think you are going to do reserves, it can be a nice way to keep your finger in without quite so much BS. As stuff winds down in Iraq/A-stan, probably not so many combat deployments with that route these days.

If you want to do that, don't allow too much of a gap from leaving active duty, it can be a kiss of death for promotion no matter what good stuff you might do. However, if they have a lot of O's at any given moment, it is possible they will tell you to screw off if you inquire (more or less what happened when I first tried).

There are ways around that. Probably easier to find a billet these days since it is online, but just because the closest reserve center does not have a billet, keep looking, there are likely still spots somewhere.

Good luck whatever you do.
