Long before that we removed Dresden as well.

The point at the end was that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were removed at a single stroke, not in thousand-plane raids, and with utter disregard for targeting or collateral damage.
We were going for minute of longitude, to make a point.

It takes a special kind of pissed off cold fury to erase an entire city to the molecular level with the push of a single button, after expending a monumental effort and warehouses of national treasure for years to achieve the capability in the first place.
