Marine F/A-18 Crashes into Residential Neighborhood, 4 Dead

"Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident," a distraught Dong Yun Yoon told reporters gathered near the site of Monday's crash of an F/A-18D jet in San Diego's University City community.

"He is one of our treasures for the country," Yoon said in accented English punctuated by long pauses while he tried to maintain his composure.

"I don't blame him. I don't have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could," said Yoon, flanked by members of San Diego's Korean community, relatives and members from the family's church.

Here is what the guy who lost his family said.

Subject: Neighbor's F/A-18 Crash Site Pictures

Friends,

A neighbor of ours, Ron Belanger, who lives two doors down from us took the pictures of the F/A-18 crash site that you will find on a photo album at the link below. We live on Cather Court which is about a block from the impact area on Cather Avenue.

Ron was home when the crash took place and was at the scene minutes after the crash. He actually attempted to rescue people in the house. I believe most of the pictures he posted are in chronological order and he has put some timing information and notes at the bottom of some of the pictures.

If you haven't seen these already they are uniquely informative regarding the sequence of events and some early details at the crash site. In one picture you will see the impressions the landing gear made on Cather Avenue just in front of the first house that was hit.

so if the times on the pictures are correct, it took 10 mins to get a fireman on the scene and another 11 minutes to get water on the fire?

that seems like a long time, but then i am armchair quarterbacking this

God Bless the young man who lost his family. I saw his interview and although it's clear he is still in shock, he handled himself with grace and forgivness. I hope and pray that he is comforted by his faith and that his pain eases quickly.
