CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — The Corps’ western regional commander has issued a plea to local law enforcement agencies: Please, don’t do my Marines any favors.

In recent weeks, Maj. Gen. Michael R. Lehnert has spoken informally with local police chiefs and members of the California Highway Patrol about an unspoken practice of some patrol officers and troopers — who pull over motorists for driving infractions and, upon realizing they’re Marines, issue them a warning instead of a citation. Lehnert wants these agencies to stop letting Marines off the hook.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

what a dick. I can't see a cop letting a DUI/DWI off the hook, or reckless driving. But giving a pass to speeding or a not quite complete stop that doesn't actually endanger someone should be at the discretion of the officer.
If you are unwilling to give another man freedom in his life, do not expect to have it in your own.
It surely beats trying to figure out what the metrosexuals want ( a good hard kick in the nuts in my opinion, but that won't sell ice cream :D )- Highspeed

considering that the vast majority of accidents have speed as a contributing factor... i cannot agree...

they should no more get special treatment than a politician should...

I have to say I am guilty here. We always would get a load of troops to come through on I40 going and coming from down east. Army and Marines. If it was 10-15 over I would give them a pass unless they talked themselves into one. Belive me some did. But the ones who would rocket through they held paper. On court day you would see the Marine in court in uniform and the Sgt next to him. You could tell while making the stop most of the times who would learn from a verbal warning and who wouldn't. At least I am not having to make those decisions now :P
