SEATTLE — The Army can’t retry a Fort Lewis-based Iraq war objector on several key charges because that would violate the soldier’s constitutional protection against double jeopardy, a federal judge ruled late Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge Benjamin H. Settle of Tacoma said the government could not retry 1st Lt. Ehren Watada on charges of missing his unit’s deployment to Iraq in June 2006 and for denouncing President Bush and the war.

I can't believe that this piece of shit isn't rotting in Ft. Leavenworth for the rest of his miserable cowardly life. He should never see a day of freedom on American soil ever again. Mistrial? Did he have the OJ prosecution team trying his case? This clown was a slam dunk for a number of court martial offenses. Honestly, every current and former member of the armed forces should be personally offended by this [strike]man[/strike] traitor.

Oh for pete's sake.

I don't think I know anyone that doesn't think he should be shot.

Hmm. Missing a movement in a time of war was an execution-worthy offense when I was in. Did something change?
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Yeah, Soup. Clinton gave us the kinder gentler military. Bush hasn't seen fit to give us back the goal of being Hard Core in times of war. Political sensitivities are like spinal cancer for this country.
If you are unwilling to give another man freedom in his life, do not expect to have it in your own.

What is it about Fort Lewis anyway? I've heard of three [strike]soldiers[/strike] cowardly scum who went AWOL instead of deploying, and all three were based in Ft. Lewis?

Fort Lewis sits astride I-5 north. Get on there and before anyone knows you're gone you can be halfway to Canada.FelixEstrella wrote:What is it about Fort Lewis anyway? Then you get stuck in Seattle traffic.

I don't know what the deal is with Ft. Lewis, but I do know the Seattle area is the only place I have ever been in the US where I consistently received negative reactions from people (comments, actions, etc) when I was in uniform. I have heard as much from other people as well.
