Magazine Recalled After Recipe Typo Leads to Poisoned Readers

Thursday, August 28, 2008

A small typo in the ingredients required for a cake recipe printed in 10,000 copies of a Swedish food magazine caused a huge problem after poisoning people who made it, AFP reported.

The magazines have since been recalled after four people experienced symptoms of poisoning, including dizziness and headaches.

"There was a mistake in a recipe for apple cake. Instead of calling for two pinches of nutmeg it said 20 nutmeg nuts were needed," Matmagasinet's Chief Editor Ulla Cocke told AFP.

More..............
The magazine editors made ASSUMPTIONS about it's readers - DOH!! Even Swedes can be stupid: "we didn't really think anyone would bake or eat this cake, since so much nutmeg would give it a horrible, bitter taste, and because it is simply not that easy to get hold of that much nutmeg" :o :?
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

Nutmeg was a popular 'herbal high' in Victorian England. Not a lot of people know that.

Recently in the UK a celebrity chef, Anthony Worral Thompson, suggested using Henbane in salads in an article for " Organic Eating Monthly " ( or some such silly magazine title )
Henbane is really, really poisonous and can easily kill you stone dead :D
He said it was a mistake but " Wozza " is a known conservative and the readers of that magazine have just got to be a bunch of stupid hippies.....

Yeah? I made a romantic dinner for my wife one time.

The recipe called for three cloves of garlic.

Turns out I didn't know the difference between a CLOVE of garlic and a HEAD of garlic.

We ate out.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

An intuitive grasp of quantities is what separates the experienced from the dilettantes. 20 NUTS of nutmeg. Holy moly. That would be like me saying 50 grains of Bullseye when I meant 5.
