You should try it in a 175' ship that only has an 8 foot draught.
We were surfing my last ship in the north pacific . The fantail was trying to swap positions with the bow on the larger waves.
We sailed a decrepit old destroyer though the hurricane that trashed Charleston back in 1990. that was a real hoot. We had footprints on the bulkheads, white water over the bridge, and green water over mount 51.

We were on the signals bridge, riding the damned thing down into the trough like a freakin' roller coaster. This was somewhere around the North Wall. I remember taking my turn on the helm and keeping a steady course meant keeping the ordered course in the middle of approximately 150 degrees of yaw. I remember some long discussions about round bottomed oilers with empty magazines and dry cargo tanks. Good times...
