IIRC, US is still a net energy exporter, so all Uncle Joe has to do to drop gas prices (maybe before November) is to do an executive order to ban energy exports.

I didn't know how big the oil pipeline network is in North America: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/intera ... nd-canada/

Part of the strength of the US is it's petroleum processing capability. It looks like these pipelines are a bigger part of that picture than I thought.

Of course, we're shooting ourselves in the foot:
The development of new pipelines remains a contentious issue in Canada and the U.S., with the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline emblematic of growing anti-pipeline sentiment. In 2021, only 14 petroleum liquids pipeline projects were completed in the U.S., which was the lowest amount of new pipelines and expansions since 2013.
One benefit of Russia sanctions is we've heard less from Greta and her followers

Easier than that. If he gave a Jones Act exception for Oil transfers, it would allow shipping excess oil th the gulf states to Northeast refineries that need it. That would take a lot of strain off of the system for virtually no cost.

The main reason the NE refineries use foreign oil is because it is cheaper to import it than to ship it domestically. The fact that NY and several other NE states banned or limited fracking doesn't help either.
