Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine

We have probably all heard something about this, from the very limited study in France, to the president's touting of same as a possibility, or the dead idiot and his wife who ingested an aquarium cleaning agent because it had a similar chemical name. Drug companies are trying to restrict it to those patients already prescribed it for other ailments, and the governor of at least one state issued an order banning off-label uses of it. There's at least one researcher currently organizing a clinical trial to test it against COVID-19 but they are saying any results are weeks away, at least.
Meanwhile, at least one doctor in NY state appears to have taken matters into his own hands, treated hundreds of confirmed cases with a regimen based off what the French used, and he's claiming some pretty remarkable results:

They are primarily antimalarials, but they are also used to treat lupus which is an autoimmune disorder, so it makes some amount of sense if part of the problem with Coronavirus is that it causes your immune system to overreact. It apparently has some potentially nasty side effects, but they are well known, and it's been in use on humans for decades. I hope production is being ramped up significantly given that it already has Trump's attention. At worst, it isn't useful and we end up making a bunch that we can't use, but otherwise it could be the thing that bridges the gap between where we are now, and when a vaccine finally becomes available. Thought I would share the link since it could be some good news.
