My son thinks it was centered on the training building he is at for his classes, but he was not on base yet when it started.

Glad he's OK

Does anyone know what kind of visa foreign military personnel who are in the States for training have?
Because I'm seriously wondering how and where he got that gun. I thought resident aliens with green cards were the only foreign nationals allowed to buy guns.

Oh, and while I respect the hell out of CSA Milley (I briefed him in Afghanistan when he was the DCG-O for the 101st), on the issue of allowing troops to carry on post, he's dead wrong.

Whatever, anyone who cannot be trusted to carry a firearm has no business being in the military.Langenator wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 12:35 am Oh, and while I respect the hell out of CSA Milley (I briefed him in Afghanistan when he was the DCG-O for the 101st), on the issue of allowing troops to carry on post, he's dead wrong.

^^^ What he said. I am not, not will I ever (at this age) be in the military. But I don't want any fool who is not responsible enough to carry a gun, to be ON BASE; much less in the military. I get it, there are bozo's in every group. I also get it that liberty isn't free or safe. The attempts to make it free or safe, make it not liberty and neither free nor safe.Vonz90 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 2:28 amWhatever, anyone who cannot be trusted to carry a firearm has no business being in the military.Langenator wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 12:35 am Oh, and while I respect the hell out of CSA Milley (I briefed him in Afghanistan when he was the DCG-O for the 101st), on the issue of allowing troops to carry on post, he's dead wrong.

My concerns with the new policy are that it is NOT a blanket allowance, but basically up the your supervisor, the base commander... and not so sure about the "host country" portion. Not sure what that covers. It is better than a blanket ban.

Host country would be like Germany, Poland, Japan, Korea, etc. Last I checked, our troops weren't even allowed to take guns to those countries, anyway.
Back to the original topic, apparently SIX Saudis have been detained, included three who FILMED THE SHOOTING while it happened.

Turn them over to the Saudi security services, I say.

It would probably be an A-2 visa, so, he came here as a "diplomat."Langenator wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 12:33 am Does anyone know what kind of visa foreign military personnel who are in the States for training have?
