I do not work in academia, so I cannot comment too much other than this seems about right.

It's pretty much on the mark -- if anything, it sugars the pill by failing to mention that a lot of faculty jobs are BS too.
Take general education for instance. I support the principle of general education -- students should have broad exposure to a variety of topics (and, one hopes, viewpoints). In practice, though, the gen ed systems I'm familiar with are, for all practical terms, jobs programs for hairy little commies with MAs and MFAs who need to feed from the public trough as an alternative to Do You Want Grande or Venti? As a bonus, each becomes one more Gramscian termite gnawing at the foundations.
