ok, here is what i dont get...

i can understand the houses getting trashed... not much you can do to get them out of the path of the storm... the cars too... but all the boats... i mean im sorry but if i own a $100,000 + boat... im getting it the hell out of the way... im not going to leave it docked so that i have to pull it out of someone's front yard later on... and the airplanes too... WTF???

On the first page there's a picture that says it all. The amusement park with the ride named Chaos. I taught about the 1900 hurricane and have seen pictures of the damage from that storm, this is just as bad.

Regarding the boats: By the time you're certain the storm is going to hit your area, it's too late to try & get out by sea. (Unless you really want to re-enact the hurricane scene from "Forrest Gump", that is... )

Anyone have recent information on Jim? Last I saw was a 'report" that he had made it out of Galveston ahead of the huricane.

IIRC, his boat was tore up, but his house took minimal wind & water damage.

I'd like to see the Congresscritters cut off the fedgov backed flood insurance for homes on tidal islands and below the 100 year flood level of rivers and storm prone costal areas. Come to think of it, prolly won't hurt for private insurers to turn away from flood insurance.
Buy ammunition and magazines.

Is it just me, or did anyone else look at the second photo and have visions of Chuck Heston screaming "Damn you all to Hell!" ?
