I believe most of these observations are true, their is little that government or the masses have to offer to self sufficient and competent folks.
I like to think that active economic natural selection will ultimately take place, maybe even peacefully, very doubtful though.

Re: The Hard and the Soft.
"Boomers" aren't to blame. All the 'Equal Opportunity' bullshit is to blame.
I believe I saw the begginings, or middlings, of that shift in my 'Highschool' days in the late 80's. I can, and will, attest to the fact that my classes in the Eigth grade were more difficult than my classes were in my Senior year. I don't mean that I had grown wiser, became more intelligent, or had just learned more. I mean that my Senior classes had been 'dumbed' down to the point of being rediculously hilarious!!! I passed all my 12th grade classes with staight A's and didn't so much as 'crack' a book!! It was basically all a review of material I had seen in the 7th to 9th grades. And from what I have seen of todays 'so called' education, it has become astronomically worse!! In today's logic, you can't offend ANYONE by FAILING them, because that would hurt their 'wittle feewings'. Thus you have the masses of underqualified 'professionals' screwing up EVERYTHING in the name of "fairness"!!!
BTW, I'm sure that someone will try to say this 'rant' is racist. Go ahead. I'm a multi-multi-racial mutt and there are very few races on the face of the planet that I could possibly offend.
Race isn't the problem here, Liberal Socialism IS!!!!

I don't see how dinging on the Equal Opportunity Act is racist. Most of us feel its time has passed and has dome more harm than good to the people it is supposed to help.

Re: The Hard and the Soft.
much like unions with unpaid labor, poor safety standards and the like. There once was a reason to examine these things.
there was once a reason to look deeply into racial/ sexist/ whatever shenanigans in hiring practices.
In both cases, those times are mostly over and easily remedied with current laws not to mention economic realities.
EOE is nothing more than racism pointed in a different direction. If I or you are better qualified / more capable for the job then that and that alone should determine who is ofered the job. Race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, bonus points for being a veteran, more seniority, hottness or whatever should be irrellevant.

Precision hottness and seniority do have their place in the workforce. Seniority should be used as a tie breaker for promotions and whatnot. If person X and Y have very similar resumes, but X has been with the company for 10 years and Y only 2 than I think it makes sense to promote X over Y. Hottness also has it place where it directly impacts the ability of one to do a job well. There are not too many 300 pound strippers or hooters girls running around.

I don't pay much attention to Peggy anymore. She started slamming Palin right off the bat. The reasons for the hostility seemed to be that Palin hadn't attended the right schools, didn't speak like people from the Bos/Wash corridor, and better people could be found.
She missed the part that people liked Palin in comparison to the twits the Bos/Wash corridor had been throwing up. Peggy in my opinon has been living the soft life by writing about the soft life. Palin on the other hand had been doing and living life.
I assume everyone knows now about the OODA loop, Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. This has gone from fighter pilot tactics to ground combat, then to business. It has to be done quickly, but people don't often understand the implications of the Decide part. The odds are against you making a perfect or correct decision because you don't have the time to factor in everything. However, you don't need to. You just have to make a decision and act quicker than your opponent does. He has to stop his OODA and start a new one in response to your act. By the time he does you have another OODA loop completed. Those who have lived the academic life are not used to the speed in which you have to act in "real" life. They have deadlines but not like that of manufacturing or service businesses. So I'm watching Obama bring in bunch of people of the academic type. They are soft and slow and things are going to go pear shaped too quickly for them to react to. Buy the time they convene the committee the hyper-inflation will have started and the war started with the loss of a city.

That's too bad, because there are plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize our stupid bitch of a governor. Unfortunately, nobody Outside on either side of the argument was really interested in hearing them, and instead focused on irrelevant crap. Most of you people still think she is a conservative, when she governs as anything but.toad wrote:I don't pay much attention to Peggy anymore. She started slamming Palin right off the bat.
