I was a little too young then, but when the movie came out in 1961, it made a big impression on junior-high/middle school boys. They used to have comb fights, and one coworker said that he was walking home from school and a boy jumped out from behind a bush, asked "Do you wanna be a Jet?" and slashed his forehead with a plastic comb.
And now Andrew Cuomo is going against Sharks.

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
