That's a fact. And I'm still looking forward to the day the occupation ends.

ETA: By the way, the Anchorage paper has an article on how much better off we are for statehood, and how prior to getting it, Alaskans were second class citizens, and we even had to have passports to leave or enter AK. Guess what, we do again. Canada doesn't care, but "my" own government now requires me to have a passport if I want to get back in. Since I won't get one, that means that my only way in or out is by air.

Get a MMD(Merchant Mariner's Document). It works for North America and the Caribbean, in lieu of a passport.

Or just finish the BearHawk......... :D

We are still second class citizens, with arrogant narrow minded clueless twits dictating from
DC, they create more environmental, social and economic strife than if we were independent
( or just autonomous states, using the Union as a collective for protection ). Yukon, NW territories, and the Kamchatka peninsula would also like to go along with us , by the way.
Sorry Chris , I am confident you have the best of intentions, but their are more of us every day that are growing more and more angry at the direction of these United States , and given our current direction we should renegotiate the various state hood acts.

It's not just Alaskans Tom. You've said a mouthful for any/all of us westerners. Federal power run amok. Jefferson's fears of monarchy creeping in incremently...

Lot's of grumbling in CA Norstate and Southern OR about reviving the state of Jefferson too. Alaskans are the canary in the cage. This is a case of "as goes AK, so goes the nation."

Hopefully we can keep from hijacking this into an "if the south had won" or " the south was right" thread.

Yes, let's not go there, please.
