Media pummel Palin while Obama gets kid gloves

Former top Hillary Clinton adviser Mark Penn says the media obsession with finding skeletons in the closet of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin since virtually the moment she was named the Republican vice presidential candidate could well backfire.

In an interview with CBSNews.com, Mr. Penn said, "I think here the media are on very dangerous ground. I think that when you see them going through every single expense report that Governor Palin ever filed, if they don't do that for all four of the candidates, they're on very dangerous ground. I think the media so far have been the biggest losers in this race. And they continue to have growing credibility problems."

I couldn't agree more. The scrutiny accorded Governor Palin is far more intense and malicious in its intent than any directed toward either of the men on the Democratic ticket. Liberals are driven nuts by the idea that this woman could be that proverbial heartbeat away from being president.

Of course they are! They must discredit Palin, otherwise the MSM is wrong, and that's just not possible! They've already held the election, and Hopey McChangitude has won, because that is what's best for us bitter, gun-and-religion clinging yokels out here in fly-over country, regardless of what we think, so we'd best have a nice big cup of STFU and listen to our betters.

Unfortunately, the MSM hasn't noticed (or doesn't care) that most of us GARC yokels trust the talking heads about as far as we can throw a John Deere, and that they have an approval rating that is approaching Congressional depths, so every attempt they make to discredit her just moves her up in our estimation. I guess we figure that if Charlie Gibson hates her this much, there's gotta be something to like about her!

Well, I don't think that that is exactly the case...although it may certainly be a component of the overall picture. Let me try to explain. I'm going to assume that we can all agree that roughly 95% of the MSM is completely in the bag for the Messiah. Now, keeping that in mind, the day after the demoncratic convention the MSM was expecting McClown to announce a "safe" running mate. Basically another dipshit just like himself and the media would be able to just give his choice a passing nod while still glowing about the genius of Obambi and his stunning acceptance speech the night before. Chris Matthews wasn't the only member of the MSM who was getting a "tingling feeling running up his leg"...it was becoming epidemic and with a boring and predictable GOP VP pick they could have stayed on course. Unfortunately for them McClown had different strategy and it upset their apple cart...perhaps the one and only smart thing that McClown has done since this whole thing started. The Palin announcement stole the thunder from Obambi when, by all rights, it should have been his.

This has actually worked out moderately well for the MSM and the Obambi camp for the simple reason that instead of the spotlight of experience could be focused elsewhere...which is really Obambi's achillies heel. Now the media can make all kinds of claims that the GOP is fielding a VP candidate that is short on experience and qualifications. Forget for a moment that the dems Presidential candidate has even less experience than the GOP Vice Presidential candidate. If the MSM can harp on the VP candidates lack of experience day in and day out the people are likely to only remember her lack of experience on November 4 and not the Messiah's complete lack of accomplishments. Remember the MSM/Left still control virtually all print and television media in the country...which is where the majority of voters still get their information. There will be almost NO talk of Obambi's very thin resume, but a constant drone of "Palin is a joke". Hell, at this point you would almost be hard pressed to remember that Palin is in the #2 spot on the GOP ticket....what the hell is that guys name she is running with again???

Now, throw into the mix that Palin is a normal person...with a normal family and it's like manna from heaven for the jackals in the press. She has a 17 year old daughter...Palin's down syndrome baby must be hers and the mom is covering up for her daughter. OK so the 17 year old is actually pregnant and the handicapped baby really is the Governor's child. That gives them even more ammunition...17 year old daughter of a GOP governor is a slut!!! Governor's daughter had premarital sex! Governor's daughter had UN-PROTECTED premarital sex. Well, so much for the whole family values thing. Oh wait there's more...Governor's husband is a DRUNK DRIVER!!! Governor abuses her office to FIRE EX-BROTHER In-LAW!!! Anyone seeing a pattern here?

At the end of the day, Palin is a double edged sword for the Obambi camp and their fellow travelers in the MSM. On one side she is a perfect target for claims of weak experience and that she isn't ready for the big chair. On the other side though, it seems that a lot of regular American folks really like her...she reminds them of real people that they actually know and like. McClown, Obambi, and Biden generally remind regular Americans of people that they don't like or want to know. But because the MSM can't possibly cast a positive light on the Messiah's superior experience and accomplishments they must go for the negative attacks on the oppositions #2 pick!
