What was reported is they asked for 11 additional copies of the portion of the jury instructions related to self defense.

They have also apparently asked for review the drone video dropped in by the evidence fairy.

https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/11/r ... ion-issue/

I'm kind of surprised the hi-res video didn't get thrown out, since the defense was only provided with the low res version. Violation of discovery rules, ergo, inadmissable.

I do find it odd that the defense has made three motions for mistrial, two of those with prejudice, but the judge hasn't actually ruled on any of them. I think the judge is hoping the jury acquits and relieves him of responsibility for dealing with the problem.

Scuttlebutt is that jury is locked. 10 to acquit. 2 afraid to join that verdict due to threats of violence.

Might as well acquit, since a mistrial most likely ends the same way (read: riots). If the jurors fear violence against themselves... well we're all just f*%ked. They know what the right thing to do is, and can't do it because they know the cops won't enforce the law... they've seen that evidenced repeatedly during the trial.

Any rational person looking at the clowncarcopia of fail that has been the prosecution in this case can't find any other way. Even if you think he was guilty, the prosecution's complete bungling of, well, everything, has left truck-sized holes to drive an appeal through. Again, rational people understand that if you believe a thing to be a certain way, you want those arguing FOR your position to do so such that their arguments are well-reasoned and bulletproof. That has NOT been the case in this case. Demonstrably so. The instances in which the judge DIDN'T declare a mistrial already are legion.

But this is where we are. So much for the rule of law... the mob rules now.

So, for the powdered wig contingent (if we have any) does Rittenhouse have to worry about a civil lawsuit now or does a self defense ruling preclude that? Logically it would, and some states have some protections in place, seems like Wisconsin probably not though being a purple ish one.

I think he needs to go work as a service hand in Deadhorse for a year or so.

Not a lawyer but it would seem like a jury verdict that his actions were legally justified would be pretty hard to overcome in a lawsuit. A different matter from a not guilty verdict due to couldn't establish that somebody was the killer beyond reasonable doubt, and then taking them to civil court with the same evidence to take advantage of the lower standard of proof.
