Rittenhouse shooting

He was a dumb ass for being there, but yeah he probably does. It would not shock me if they got him for something else though.

Edited because autocorrect...

Running away and being on the ground when someone comes at you with a handgun seems like it should weigh heavily in a self defense argument. It appeared that he handled himself pretty well on the ground.

They will definitely convict him of something, though. They need to do that to pretend to themselves it will satisfy the mob. Which it won't.

But the last sentence of the linked article certainly resonates.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Violated Farnam's Rules. But he took down 3 mugshot winners... so Trump should pardon him eventually.

While it may appear they threw a bunch of shit at the wall to see what sticks, my take is a little different. I think the entire prosecution hinges on the “minor bearing a dangerous weapon” charge. If he somehow beats that, he has a good chance of beating the whole thing. But if it sticks, then they create a presumption that he was a bad actor before the incident got started.

According to what I've read from various attorneys there is some ambiguity in the law about open carry of a rifle.

Also, from what's in the charging documents, it appears that the first dead guy threw something at the kid, approached him, and tried to grab his rifle.

If nothing else, I expect them to go after him for the can of chew he had on him.

Based on the sequence of events as reported in the NYT (amazingly, one of their reporters remembered how to report, and the editors didn't kill it) linked to by Legal Insurrection, Rittenhouse made one major tactical mistake, and that was getting separated from the group he was with initially.

Note in the sequence, he's at a car dealership with an armed group. Cops come by, thank them, and leave. At some point, Rittenhouse leaves that dealership, and when he tries to return, police are stopping people from entering the area. Rittenhouse is now alone and away from his group, and that seems to be the point at which he draws the attention of the mob, which starts the whole chain of events leading to the shootings.

Being alone in Indian country is not a good thing.

Apparently one of the wounded "victims" is on record that he was trying to kill Rittenhouse and wished that he did.....
