WILL THEY ALL FIT????:

Washington D.C. has estimated that as many as 5 million people will come into the city for Inauguration Day!

According to several estimates, the "official" National Mall from 1st to 14th streets is approximately 146 acres. That equals 6.36 million square feet, meaning if you gave each person a roughly 3 ft. by 3 ft. space to stand in the Mall would be able to hold about 636 thousand people. If you put 5 million people into that area, each person would have 1.27 sq. ft. to stand in, just about the size of the length of your shoes!

If we extend the "unofficial" mall area to include all of the area between the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, the acreage would increase to 309, which equates to 13.46 million square feet. If everyone was given a 3 ft. by 3 ft. area to stand in, it would still be only enough room for 1.34 million people. If you spread out the 5 million people from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial each person would now get 2.7 square feet to stand.
man, this is gonna be interesting

I'm sure that there will be a lot of sleepless nights for members of various Fed and Military organizations between now and 20 Jan. with just that thought in mind.

Even a couple conventional weapons could do phenomenal damage in this situation. This entire situation classifies as "not good."

And the DC city council voted to let the bars stay open until 5 a.m. This has disaster written all over it.

It's probably easier to brew up some sort of chemical weapon.

At that level of crowding, a sudden rain shower is a WMD....

youve got a good point... as we have seen in mecca and other crowded places, a simple loud bang can cause a stampede...

Why would Islamic terrorists want to assassinate a president who's sympathetic to their cause?
