Congressman McClintock?

Post by Bandito »

Good news from the McClintock camp on the ongoing vote count for his very tight race for California's 4th Congressional District:

Link here.
Great News!
More than 4/5 of the uncounted ballots in this race were announced today, boosting our lead to 1,793 votes, or 0.49 percent. There are less than 4,100 ballots yet to be counted – all from counties that we carried with between 51 and 53 percent – and Charlie Brown would need to receive 71.9 percent of the remaining ballots to overtake our current lead.

We are told to expect the final tallies from the counties still outstanding to be announced by early next week, and I expect to be making a formal statement then. For now, I think we can safely say that the fat lady is singing – and she’s singing our song.
What I don't understand is how it ever could have been so close. That district is probably about as normal as California gets (politics-wise) and McClintock is a great statesman who had widespread support--just not enough of it--across party lines during the Great Recall. He should have sailed through this election with a comfortable majority.

So why was it so close? Did the Dems sandbag the election with a bunch of illegals? I don't get it.

Anyway, as long as he is in I won't gripe. McClintock for Prez in 2012!!

He's a good and wise man. If only he had a personality for mass media.

Most good and wise people don't have the personality for mass media. Generally people with the personality for mass media tend to be shysters with mad teleprompter skilz.
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

It appears my money didn't go to waste after-all. I figure as long as he wins, even if by ONE vote, it's money well spent. And if he loses, I figure it's another gun I *could* have bought, and since he's going to the US Congress, as opposed to just the state shithole, he'll be able to do some good for the ENTIRE nation (even though we desperately need him here in Sacramento).

His district is a LONG ways from San Diego, but I support those I believe in.

I hope he goes a LONG way!!

It was a long and dirty campaign, with Brown calling McClintock a "professional politician" and a carpet bagger.

McClintock came back by implying Brown (a retired AF LTC) was unpatriotic.

Brown was photographed at an anti-war rally wearing part of his desert BDUs, including rank insignia.

Apologies to one and all, especially anybody who served under his *spit* "command".

McClintock has declared victory!

It's Peanuts Happy Dance Time!!
Many years ago a wise friend of mine, Larry Arnn – now President of Hillsdale College — told me that if you stand on principle, you’re going to lose some elections and those that you win, you’re not going to win by much. But those elections that you do win are going to mean something.

And that is certainly true of this election. The liberal wave that swept over America last month lapped at the edges of this district, but it literally was in the 4th Congressional district of California where that wave was turned back....
