..and the stock market's down...

Post by Jered »

So far, in the past two days, the DOW has fallen by almost 1000 points.
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

It is called the "Obama Effect". If I could save 5%+ in my investment by selling this year, i would do it. Wall Street knows what is coming.

Investors save 20% by selling this year vs. next year. That's a pretty big difference. Stocks have to go up 20% for investors to end-up even vs. not selling. Not many stocks go up 20%. Anybody who can do some simple arithmatic is selling before December 30th.

Obama has publicly stated he will 'soak the rich' by taxing capital gains at a 'fair' rate of 35% vs. the current 'Bush/ Cheney/ Halliburton' rate of 15%. That's not a 5% difference, that's a 20% difference.

Obama can easily make the tax rate retroactive to January 1st, 2009, but will have a hard time making it retroactive to January 1st, 2008.

I'll put it this way...I can understand the panic selling, but if you can stand to put your money in the market for five or six years, you should be able to make a fortune.

Me? I'm not taking anything out...I would lose my shirt. But my investments are headed into a money market account for the next year or so. What I don't invest in guns, that is.

Nice try...but this is gonna get blamed on Bush...count on it...it already has. In fact, all economic bad news will get blamed on Bush for at least the next 2 years...more likely 4 years. It happened when Clinton took office and it's gonna happen again. Might as well get used to the fact that EVERYTHING negative that happens in the next 4 years is gonna get traced directly back to the evil Bush administration.

Sure, it won't be the truth...that doesn't matter. The MSM has already proved that the truth is what they say it is...and Mr. & Mrs. America willingly believe it. Anything bad that happens is gonna be pinned on Bush and anything that can even remotely be spun as positive wll be attributed to the Messiah. You can take that to the bank friends.

True. I'd bet good money on it, and I doubt they'll stop at 4 years unless they get voted out, they will use it as long as they are in charge.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Twenty years ago, the social democrats here lost power for three years. When they got power back, they blamed every problem on the previous administration for well over a decade. And got away with it.

well, they have been blaming the problems that Clinton and Carter created on Bush for over a year now... and perhaps it is slightly true that he didnt do anything to stop it...but you know that it wont stop
