Fixing the RNC primary system...

Post by mekender »

I am of the opinion that one of the reasons, probably the biggest one, that McCain was the RNC pick is because of the staggered primaries that spread the voting out over a 2 month or longer process...

myself, i am in a state where McCain was the only one left by the time the vote came up...

so how do we get this problem fixed?

Caucuses in all states. Cut off funds to RINOs.
Buy ammunition and magazines.

You'll shoot your eye out!

All primaries held on the same day.

This. Republicans should get to chose amongst themselves who represents them, same for Libertarians and Democrats.

First and foremost, primaries all on the same day. This would prevent those outside the party from seeing and trying to help or hurt a trend. Additionally, it would cause all the candidates to have to convince their whole party of their worthiness first before going nationally. Right now, some candidates that might have done better nationally back out because of lack of money or perceived lack of support very early in the primary process do to just a few "key" losses early on.

Secondly, our party, our cover charge. As much as I didn't like the idea of having to put on public record in FL my party affiliation, i see the need for it in the primary races. In FL unless you are a declared member of that party on your voter registration you can not vote in that parties primary. I think this is a rule the party should instill nation wide. Unless you are a registered member of the party for X amount of time before the primary election you are not allowed in to vote for OUR candidate.

All good, commonsense (nobrainer) ideas. Closed voting, and have a single primary date, or maybe two.

But I'm NOT going to let the idiot RINO LEVER-MONKEY ON CRACK VOTERS off the hook on this. It's not just the "system," but a whole lot of people who are driven by party affiliation instead of principles; by fear of losing power instead of a desire to regain their freedoms.

McAmnesty wasn't a "made man" as of the Iowa caucuses or the Vermont whatevers. A lot of so-called Replublican voters smeared the true conservatives in the race (and I don't mean that wolf in sheep's clothing Thompson) at the very start, long before the "Comeback Kid" was resurrected to spit in the face of the base once again. They dismissed the good candidates as being "unelectable" even before Iowa. They couldn't even give our good candidates a voice of moral support. Look what they got.

No, it's not just the system. We need to obliterate the Cult of Compromise that has taken over the Republican voters since the 60's (yes, as far back as then). We need to remind ourselves and others--or learn for the first time--that principles are of utmost importance, and cannot be compromised.

yup, closed primaries and one day to vote. I concur with Bandito about compromise it needs to stop.

Your mouth to God's ear.
I'd like one refinement, but it would probably be rejected as too complicated: let people designate first and second, or first, second and third choices.
OK, two refinements: Mismarked ballots are sh*tcanned. Dumb people are disenfranchised... so sue me.
