Voting tales

Post by Rod »

Since many of us have already voted or know someone who has, I thought it might be interesting to hear any stories.

My wife told me her friend, who is a loonbat liberal who believes firmly in gun control and government help, voted for McCain. The lady said she had problems with where Obama's donations came from and his ideas on the economy. This in El Paso, Texas, 75% Democrat. I'm seeing more and more anecdotal evidence that Obama may NOT walk above the water.
one can be a Democrat, or one can choose to be an American.

Or like most libs she is really a closet racist. Could be a puma and doesn't want to admit she voted against him simply because he is not a woman(in the strictest sense).

I did early voting today, got there early and it still took an hour. Lots of people of all sorts--young, old, white and various colors, you name it. There were a couple of very cute MILFs in line just ahead of me, it made the wait tolerable. ;)

At least one Obama supporter expects him to pay her mortgage and for her gas or she wants a Soviet style apartment and cars banned.
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

I don't want to hijack the thread or anything, but stories like this baffles me. Around here, voting on election day is done in 15 minutes tops, and that's if I really drag my feet and and want to read through all the material.

It's just to go on, pick up the paper slips for the party/parties I want to vote for (unless I brought it with me from home, we get it in the mail too), get the vote envelopes, step behind the curtain, fill the envelopes with my selected votes, go to the counter, show ID, leave my votes, and leave. It's so fast that I hardly ever seen any kind of line, maybe 2-3 people waiting at the most.

I cant imagine taking an hour or more to vote, and on a workday too. Election day here is always on a sundays.

I know her well enough to know she isn't racist. She MAY be a Puma but didn't say that. This woman doesn't lie to my wife or me. When we're in the same room, we discuss things VERY civilly and scare the crap out of everyone in the room. She believes the government should "help" people.

I just find it incredible, from where I'm sitting I cant imagine what would make it take so long. Could be that you have a lot fever places to vote, so there's more people voting at every place. I've also heard that the electronic voting machines slows it down, but still. I've never ever heard of any queues here, ever.
I think it's pretty amazing that so many people still stay in those lines and wait for that long. I'm not sure as many would do that here, if they had to wait for hours.

Sounds like the lines I used to stand in when I lived in the SF Bay Area, (and the reason I started voting absentee there). After escaping the PRK to small-town SC, our voting lines were typically 6-8 people long. Here in rural Kansas it's about the same as it was in SC. My take is that in higher population areas there are way too few places to vote.
