Predict Palin's Debate Performance

I like what Palin stands for, but she seems desperately out of her league. Between the moderator being in the bag for Obama and Palin being fairly inarticulate, I'm predicting Palin gets her ass handed to her tomorrow night. Takers?

She'd do best to drop Biden with a deer rifle then skin the sumbich. Given the circumstances and that folks are already saying that the debate is going to be skewed in his favor (preparing to lose), I'm thinking she's going to be beaten.

I'd love to see Sarah keep her cool long enough to set off Biden's famous temper. If she can do that, he is toast.

Can she do it? I don't know. We know she's a fighter and if she does go down, it will be swinging.

Hopefully she has used her time during the last week or so getting better aquainted with the issues and the players because this debate is not about Biden vs Palin...it is strictly about Sarah Palin. Every misstep will go to prove her unworthiness to hold office. Everytime she stumbles over a word it will prove that she is little more than a female Dan Quayle. Biden could show up to the debate on acid and stand at his podium and drool and nobody would say a damn thing...because this ain't about him. Couple all that with the fact that she is showing up for a debate in hostile territory and we have a recipe for disaster.

To hear Biden tell it...he is ready - no problem - he debated Hillary. Except that when he debated Hillary he lost and they weren't really debating differing ideas, but rather the nuances of the same ideas. He isn't worrying because he knows the score. Gwen Ifill is a card carrying Obamite and is completely in the tank for Obama/Biden...so much so that she is betting her book's success on his winning. And she is the debate moderator. Biden also knows that this will be full fledged "gotcha" fest and Palin is the guest of honor...Biden's job is basically as the straight man. He will not need to lose his temper and the moderator will make sure that that doesn't happen. He will be able to sit back and act like the fatherly wise statesman that he never has been.

If Palin can survive her trip into the lions den with minimal damage it can be considered a win. If, by some miracle, she is able to show Biden as part of the problem instead of part of the solution she can consider herself a winner. If she can show the moderator as the craven political hack that she is then she can be looked at as a winner. The media is going to spin whatever the outcome as a Biden knockout, but the people watching will know if Palin made her mark...IF she has command of the facts. Let's face it though, Palin isn't going to a debate but to her own crucifixtion and if she manages to leave some scars on her tormentors she will have done well.

Seriously, have you been paying attention? That's way underestimating her. She's a cool cucumber who thinks well on her feet. She stands and delivers with natural wit/charm. She's took the best Couric and Gibson could deliver in hostile interviews and did as well as anyone I've ever seen (this side of the Gipper).

That whole beauty pageant Q&A thing really isn't bad training.

I don't think they're keeping her out of press conferences because she's so articulate and has such a strong command of the facts. There's no hidden genius here or they'd be trotting her out constantly. She's just not very well-informed and doesn't dodge questions well. The good news is expectations are extremely low for her, so it's not a high bar to step over to have done "surprisingly well."

The rules are set up to have a minimum of back and forth and short answer times, so the rules, at least, are stacked in her favor. Based on the interviews so far it's still hard to imagine her lasting 90 minutes without several big missteps.

The best possible news is she's up against Biden, who has a very solid command of the issues, but has a tendency to stick his foot in his mouth. It's still probably going to be a nail in the coffin.

If only she didn't make a gaffe a minute, you know, like asking people in wheelchairs to stand up and be recognized, or saying that Roosevelt appeared on TV in 1929, or how others would make a better VP choice. Didn't she also want to send $200 billion to Iran once as a goodwill gesture? Or clamed to have been in a chopper forced down by [strike]insurgents[/strike] a snowstorm while in Afganistan? Such a gaffe prone person. That just means a person is unqualified for the spot, right?

Maybe she just needs to stick with the teleprompter. Because..um..um..you know...um..ahh..you know... when they're on their own...they...ahhh...let me finish...umm...kind of...cant seem to find what they want to say. Obviously not a person to vote for.

Biden has been lying and gaffing even more lately.

Using a moderator that is in the tank for Obama could backfire on the Democrats.

The Ilfin chick is from PBS which means she couldn't make it on cable or regular broadcast news. She may lack the subtley needed to do an effective spike on Palin.

There has been some speculation on how much effect debates have on Presidential elections lately. The Nixon/Kennedy debate was maybe the last one. The viewership on debates has been low and Pres. Bush won two elections and he is not exactly the most articulate of politicians. No matter what happens Biden will be declared the winner by the Dims and the MSM.

What may be a deciding factor will be attack adds showing the kind of associates and company Urkeltude has been keeping and how much he is talking policy that is 180 from what he has done.
