Councilmember Charges Racism at Dallas City Hall

Post by Rustyv »

Presented without comment

Solely because I cannot wrap my brain around the stupidity required to make that leap.

Between this and the Dallas County Commissioner demanding an apology for the use of the word "black" when referring to a "black hole", I'm beginning to wonder if racism is a dead issue in Dallas

Hey, we've had a state agency try to ban an icecream for being racist. Yes, a real icecream, the kind you can buy in any store, or from lots of vendors in the summer. You really cant make stuff like that up.
But they went too far with that one and got ridiculed to the point that their funding was seriously cut, the government had to distance themselfes from those nutters.

the problem is, here in the states people believe these guys to the point that they can get riled up enough to be violent.

thankfully there have only been one or two cases of people getting violent over claims of racism... but i am pretty sure that the day is comming.

We get the same here.
Broken windows, smashed cars, vandalism, assaults, bombings, and death threats aren't that uncommon. Just the other week a group claimed responibility for poisoning the food at a restaurant where some people whos politics they didn't like were eating. I believe about 150 people got seriously ill.
It's more or less instigated by these types of politicians, who then can claim that they " of course had nothing to do with the violence, but that they can understand how people might get upset when confronted with such injustice".

So I guess now we should reply to the result of the sun setting as it "getting less light out" instead of it "got dark".

Or we should call it "not milk chocolate" or "concentrated chocolate" instead of "dark chocolate"

Dress codes should read "don't wear light colored pants" instead of "dark pants required"

I can only assume this gentleman is an upstanding pillar of racial harmony (like the race card pullers always are).

I would love to know how ice cream was thought to be racist? The only thing I could come up w. is because certain ethnic groups are much more likely to suffer distress from eating lactose than a Swede...

It was the name of it.
Here's a Wikipedia article about it
Just to point out a few things, to make it clearer for non-Swedes.
The so called "N-word" does not exist in Swedish. It's simply not used, any slur that might be used in it's place is very different.
The only way to make this somewhat plausible is to read the icecream name in english, and the rest in swedish, and to ignore the established product.

Noone except for the people claiming it saw this as remotely racist, the connection doesn't work in Swedish. It would be like a US company running an ad in Texas with the logo "danskjaevlar". (for lack of a better example)
