I sure hope that Urkel's presidency will teach the country that no, we really can't depend on the government for much of anything, and maybe if we're really lucky, there'll be a turn around in personal values between now and 2012.
*Sigh*, time to buy some guns, ammo, and lay in a stock of non-perishable food.
(Not looking forward to what our boy's going to do to the military.....)

Re: Looking Ahead
I'm sure we'll see that the media and entertainment industries will treat President Obama with the same amount of respect and candor as they did with President Bush.
Yeah, I'm not believing that, either.

Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Come 2010, no matter how conservative or how much pork they bring home, every bone-headed error at the top gets hung like an albatross on the necks of every Democrat candidate. Make it clear who is at fault for the messes we find ourselves in.

What has happened is a good thing. Now it is all the Democrats problems, all of it. Obama's solutions will not work and will hurt this economy even more. Remember, 60 million people voted for Obama and his socialism/marxist policies. They want something for nothing, and that is what they will get get nothing.

Rumpshot,
You better believe it!

Doug,
though a foreign relocation is a possibility with work, I was more referring to heading for the hills and pulling them in behind me. But I am getting through the stages of grief, now I'm just pissed.

Like I said... I needed to get that "surrender monkey" comment out of my system. My patience for quitters is very low. Your other posts about political reform are more what I'm hoping America turns to.martini wrote:Doug,

Re: Looking Ahead
I wrote my opening post shortly after listening to McCain's concession speech on the radio. I was pretty well down then, I'm better now.
No ODS here, Obama will be my president, he's duly elected, the people have spoken. I'm not going to sit in a tree and fling crap, that's what Democrats do (and did for eight years). We're better than that. I'll criticize him when I feel it's warranted (just as I did with prior presidents). If he gets into trouble I hope he gets wise counsel to get him out of it, anything less undermines the nation I love, the nation that's bigger than one man. If there's an emergency I hope he rises to the occasion (just like Bush did in the aftermath of 9/11, and exactly as Carter DIDN'T in the hostage crisis).
I hope the Republicans take back Congress in 2010, because I think it's generally better to have the executive and legislative branches split like that, prevents them from doing too much harm one way or the other.
I think the Obama presidency will be a disaster, but in four years I REALLY hope I can look back on these words and way I was wrong. Not because I want him to succeed, but because I want America to succeed.
