The constitutional right to bear arms enshrined in the Second Amendment should apply to those between the ages of 18–20, declared the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit today in Hirschfeld v. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

I love how they try to demonize "barely legal" as if being of age, it isn't good enough.

I have long held the position that there needs to be a single standard for when a person is a legal adult, and at that point, they should be able to enjoy all of the privileges and responsibilities thereof.
The current way that it is split, so that at 18 a person can vote, enter into contracts, get married, join the military, buy long guns, be tried as an adult criminally (although that is actually lower in some states. TX is 17 for that), but that they have to be 21 to buy alcohol, handguns, and in some states, tobacco, is just stupid, and utterly devoid of any sort of logical consistency.
A person is either an adult and a full citizen, or not.
I don't have much opinion on where that point should be, but since the Constitution says you can't deny the right to vote to anyone 18 or older, I figure that's the easiest place to set the bar.

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".
