Please Contact the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee Today!
On Monday December 8 the New Jersey Senate Law and Public Safety Committee will vote on S1774.
S1774 would prohibit law-abiding citizens who have already undergone an extensive background check from purchasing more than one handgun within a 30-day period. This legislation would do little to impact crime because criminals do not purchase firearms from dealers and they do not submit to background investigations. S1774 treats law-abiding citizens like criminals simply for exercising their Constitutional right to own, purchase or sell firearms.
Please contact the members of the Law and Public Safety Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose S1774. Contact information can be found below.

NJ: “One-Gun-A-Month” Gun Rationing Approved 3-2 Vote

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Law would limit firearm sales to 13 per year
By STEPHEN SMITH For The Press
Published: Tuesday, December 09, 2008
TRENTON - A consequence of lax gun laws is the proliferation of violence and funerals, Atlantic City Councilman Bruce Ward said as he advocated for a bill Monday that would limit most New Jersey gun owners to buying 13 or fewer firearms per year.
Others said the proposal would do little to stem the flow of firearms to criminals from illicit sources.
The state Senate Law and Public Safety and Veterans' Affairs Committee approved the bill by a 3-2 vote. It now goes the full Senate. The Assembly approved a companion measure June 23 by a 47-28 vote with four abstentions.
Current state law does not limit firearm purchases.
State Sen. Sandra Cunningham, D-Hudson, the bill's sponsor, said, "Anyone with a clean record can ... buy 10 or 20 guns at a time, and then resell them for a handsome profit."

Wouldn't this decrease the supply and thus lead to an even greater profit?

The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

I don't get this. Apart from the usual and predictable GFW insanity, are there now thirteen months in the year in NJ?
Perhaps they mean one-gun-a-month, and one extra for Christmas? That's a laudable sentiment, at least.

YOU. STUPID. CUNT.State Sen. Sandra Cunningham, D-Hudson, the bill's sponsor, said, "Anyone with a clean record can ... buy 10 or 20 guns at a time, and then resell them for a handsome profit."
For those of you who don't know, NJ requires a separate permit for EACH handgun you want to purchase. This permit is issued AFTER a full background check by the Staties which takes weeks to complete. NO ONE buys handguns in NJ to resell them for a "handsome profit". But this grandstanding bitch knows that.
I've called and written my reps. repeatedly on this issue. Currently, I only purchase a few handguns a year. I've promised them I will purchase one a month for the rest of the time I live here if this nonsense is passed. Just doing my part to "put more guns on the street". Fucking asshats.
P.S. The Hudson County Democratic Machine rivals the Daly Machine for ingrained political corruption.

my understanding is that getting a NJ purchase permit is slightly easier than say booking passage on the space shuttle.

They're not hard to get - it's just the general hassle of having to deal with a beuracracy.
