I'm pretty sure there are going to be some limits on that -- if I get time, and remember, during winter break, I'll check up on it.
An organization does not have to release a member list* -- at a certain point, cops asking for ID will have to cross a line which interferes w. the right to associate.
The case shown was different -- Hibel met a description of a criminal suspect, and was, technically, arrested -- only in law school is a traffic stop called an arrest, but it is.
From the looks of things, the LEOs didn't handle things ideally, but the individuals definitely aggrevated things. This was not merely being asked for papers because he was there. I couldn't see what the girl was doing from the video.
*That was pretty clearly est. back during the civil rights movement when Bull Conner kept trying to get the NAACP's membership list.

Good luck with that. The best course of action is to be respectful and courteous and demand it in return.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

workin,
A kind word coupled with a firm attitude does wonders, even in NYC during peak traffic.

Erm, Uh, actually it should be, "Ausweis, bitte!" or. "Papieren, bitte!" Sie means either "you" (polite form) or "She".
I think I'll get "Ausweis" embroidered on my wallet. Not that I'm sore about this development or anything that has happened recently, you understand.

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

I can see the checks prior to boarding the metro as being legal, but once you boarded I don't think a check of your person is going to be legal unless there is probable cause. I would have a hard problem here. If there is something in the patriot act that I am not aware of I see problems for the LEO here.D5CAV wrote:DC Metro police will now be conducting random searches of passengers. http://www.wmata.com/about/met_news/Pre ... aseID=2324.
