Yeah, well, a lot of old line Democrats down here didn't think much of Jindal either, till he nearly beat Blanco in the first election, and then won the next time around.Dub_James wrote:Took a look at Jindal on wikipedia.org. I doubt they'll ever run anyone like him again.
Let me tell ya'll some things:
#1. Jindal's not the hardcore ultra-conservative some of you think he is.
#2. If you think Obama's smart(and he is), then add 20 IQ points and you have Jindal.
#3. Jindal's wife is attractive, demure, and smart. IIRC, she's a chemical engineer.
#4. Jindal is a member of the Roman Catholic Church. While some regard that as a liability, it is a lot less of a problem than Obama's church affiliation.
#5. Jindal's also learned not to bump heads with the Louisiana general populace, in particular Moon Griffon, when we sent him and the new legislators to Baton Rouge with a specific purpose in mind, namely repealing the Stelley Tax Plan. We're teaching him to listen to the people, and keep his campaign promises.
#6. Jindal handled the two hurricanes well; I give him a B+.
#7. Jindal doesn't need a teleprompter. I kid you not. Did I mention he was smart?
Please leave our governor alone, at least till 2011. We need him down here, and if he's going to have national political aspirations, he needs the experience.
Also, Louisiana has a problem on the distant horizon in the form of state retirement pensions. If he can fix that, then it would be a gold star around his neck to take into the national political arena.
