Mom says I have one more chance to swing her vote away from O. It's looking like every vote's going to count here in the Hoosier state.

Money magazine has an article that has convinced her that his tax plan is better than McCain's.
And my brother has told her he's not a socialist.

Anyone have any good links to stuff that shows how screwed up his ideas are?
Stuff that will talk to a 65 year-old about to retire. Probably not the Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity type of hype.

Not gun stuff either. She's pretty sure the world would be better w/o them.

This is a guy that want's to create the same kind of system that's in Europe and Scandinavia. She could go on any Scandinavian site for people her age and older and ask them what they think of that economic policy, and the "free healthcare".

And I'm sorry, your brother doesn't know what he's talking about. (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not doing it on purpose) BHO would be on the far left in Scandinavia, so far left that he probably would be unelectable. The European media likes him because he's in the US, if he was european he would just be a subject of ridicule.

My brother, 5 years my jr, hasn't yet crossed the "if you're not liberal when you're young you don't have a heart..." line.

I have to say that this is my first election on this side too. (I'm 41 and have never voted for a losing presidential candidate ) So by 2012, he might have converted.

It's definitely caused me more stress this election season.

A) All politicians lie, none of them do what they say -- she should probably be willing to accept that -- eg, Bush has shown his true colors, and has become a RINO Yankee -- and I hope he never sets foot in TX again.

B) The title of his biography -- dreams of my father -- given what his father was, should be enough -- I don't hold him responsible for what his father did, but it's pretty obvious he's mentally stuck idolizing his absent parent, who was actually, a Marxist SOB.

C) The contents of his biography, etc -- don't show her any videos, look for transcripts, excerpts from his writing -- just show her the clauses naked, don't mention who wrote them, then ask her what she thinks of it

D) The civilian defense force is really, really scary. No matter what form he meant, there's simply no legitimate reason for a federal force, comparable to our military, being deployed in the US.

I agree. You really have to wonder what he wants this new powerful and wellfunded force to do that no existing agency isn't allready doing. What can it possibly be that the Border Patrol, BATF, DEA, FBI, INS, IRS, Homeland Security, etc, aren't allready responsible for?
