But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society.
Make no mistake, what he is talking about here is reparations for slavery.

I have to disagree. Reparations is part of it, but what he''s talking about is much more.
This sounds like classic socialist rethoric, the kind that in its most extreme ends up in the argument for "citizen wages", the idea that everyone should get the exact same paycheck from the government, regardless of the work they do.

"Political justice" usually means "the People" should be in charge, and the persons using that phrase usually consider themselfes the representatives for "the People". (because the people themselfes aren't enlightened enough to know what's good for them)
"Economic justice" means that anyone making a lot of money is doing so on the expense of someone that's not, and in fact exploiting him/her. So the justice here is to take the money from the person making it, and giving it to the person that's not. This is classic Marxist economics; if you pay someone $25 to work for you and make something that cost you $25 in material and you then sell for $75, you are exploiting his/hers work to the amount of $25. That money, according to Marxist economics, rightfully belongs to the worker.

They probably wouldn't be "undecided" if Obama was trailing badly in the polls - it would be easy to vote for a minority party candidate and not to vote for the moderate Dimmicrat McCain. There are some folks out there who truly dislike McCain, and more than a few of them are having serious misgivings about voting for him.

in today's two party system, not voting for McCain is the same as voting for Obama... but it is their vote to throw away as they please
Of course. My apologies for not including that in my post, but I assumed everyone here already knew it. :?

Even that's not quite true. To the winner go all the state's electoral votes. I, unfortunately, live in a state where, thus, my vote really is thrown away. But I still vote, and vote for the lesser of two evils.

Since I once lived in CA, I know how that feels. I still voted, just to have the satisfaction of knowing that my vote canceled the one cast by George Miller, (or Nancy Pelosi, or Barbara Boxer, etc., etc.)

Do adults really make up their minds
Yes they do.
well in advance
Yes, especially if they have been paying attention
long before the election...."?
Again, yes, especially if they have been paying attention
At what point should we stop "...paying attention..." and close our minds?
You shouldn't stop paying attention or close your mind. However, that is assuming that you were paying attention in the first place and not just saying so. You are insinuating that there is no real difference between candidates up to the day of election and a coin toss is necessary before grabbing the lever and I flat out refuse to buy that notion. Perhaps that is true for someone without any core beliefs or moral compass to guide them but I don't believe that anyone here falls into that catagory. Which leaves the "wasn't paying attention" contingent standing there all by themselves. I have honestly never met anyone who could claim that there was no difference between the candiates...ever. There is ALWAYS differences.

Look, I despise John McCain...I have been more than vocal regarding that fact. He is the worst republican candidate for president in my lifetime. Having said that though, I can tell you that there are distinct differences between McCain and Obama...and I didn't just discover them yesterday. I have been paying attention. In fact, I can feel safe in saying that everyone who contributes to this forum has also been paying attention. Just because both candidates might suck doesn't mean that there aren't real and significant differences between them and if you are paying attention those differences will become readily apparent...long before election day.

Look, you might not like my opinion and that's OK. I stand by my assertion that if you haven't discovered and weighed the differences between the candidates and are struggling with your decision up until you step into the voting booth, that person should skip going to the polls and just head to the mall and try to decided on a new pair of shoes instead.

I've talked about Bee Ho's birth cert, etc. with others. Others have then asked if it were proven that he was a U.S. citizen, would that change my mind. I then tell them about a website that I use to learn about him and it provides all of the justification I need not to vote for him.

When they ask what the site is, I tell them "www.barackobama.com".

To quote Janet Jackson: "What have you done for me lately?" I think it pretty much sums up the attitude. The past means nothing to the Perpetually Aggrieved except when it bolsters their grievance.

It is hard to believe that over 45% of the American people want to have income redistribution. That is nuts and can lead only to one obvious conclusion.
