There were only two humans back then, if you take Genesis literally.

Now, we've got a population of humans that's self-supporting if folks decide to engage in non-reproductive sex.
if you wish to take a literal translation, that isnt actually clear... Gen 1:26-27
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

to me that says that there were many people created because of the words "us," "our," and "them"

the implication in Gen 2 and Gen 3 is that adam and eve were the only two people in Eden, not in the world... in Gen 4:17 Cain builds a city and names it after his son...

what would be the purpose of building a city of there were only adam, eve, cain, his wife and enoch?

then in Gen 5:1 it says
When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man."

I have absolutely no interest in what other folks do in their bedroom and with their lives as long as it's legal. That said, marriage is between a man and a woman. Period.

I have no problems with 'legal unions' between two men or two women. For all I care, these legal unions can confer all the rights and responsibilities of marriage just without the name. Honestly, there are much larger problems in the world than gay unions. If two guys get legal standing in their relationship, I think we women-porkers and our counterpart female man-boffers will mosey along just fine.

I think abortion is repugnant. But I also realize we are never going to outlaw it. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be restrictions on it. A 14 year old girl should never be allowed to have a surgical procedure without her parents' consent. And what human in their right mind could ever view a partial birth abortion and think it should be legal?

I agree.

Moose 42, I am also an atheist, so that argument does not hold water with me. Chris Byrne is Catholic, Mike and Randy have not shared with me their particular flavor. Still, we all get along here and at the previous sites. We can all agree to disagree and still be civil about it. I understand you feel strongly about this issue, as does just about everybody here.

To this end I am closing this thread as I think a good baseline for the the OP has been established, and I don't see any point in raising any further ire on any side of the issue.
