It makes Houston seem like it might be an "interesting" place to be in Nov... Riots aren't particularly likely in TX, but part of me is uneasy that if the Obamacle loses, the 5th ward erupts, and if he wins, the local Vietnamese go nuts... (You want to meet a staunch anti-Communist, talk to a man who emigrated to the US when S. Vietnam fell...)

I think the liberal reply to this guy is to simply discredit him by saying he's more concerned with making a buck than helping his fellow black man, a sellout or a race traitor. If you're black, you can't leave the Democratic political plantation.

But back to the original point, I had a nice long conversation with a friend over this very worry recently. I was all worried over just such fear this guy was talking about in the event of an Obama loss. He replied that the different factions of the Democratic party aren't likely to unite and try to stir up trouble. The gays and feminists aren't likely to take up arms; they'd sit on the sidelines, scream and yell and pretend they're the vanguard. The working class Democrats aren't likely to cause chaos themselves; even if they are strained economically they have too much to lose in going to the jail or to the morgue. The elitist Democrats will not be in the streets; they might be in bunkers themselves as they think a McCain loss might drive us to riot ( ) The anarchist/black block types will probably do the same penny ante shit that we've seen in Denver and Minneapolis; criminal mischief, vandalism and arson, but that'll be in commercial areas. And the various ethnic groups the Democrats see as theirs will end up fighting each other; he noted that in many cities black and Hispanic gangs are already fighting against each other and not against the upper or middle classes.

But keep making the usual preperations. For all we know, Democrat followers may not riot, but Obama might take his revenge by raising some of his Chicago voters from the grave.

Mr. Parks reminds me of someone I knew in college. At the time, I *naively* assumed that if someone's black, then he/she will support the stereotypical black-perspective position. [Yes, I am a recovering liberal, didntcha know?] This person blew me away. He was black, gayer then Christmas but had conservative views. I remember looking forward to dinners with this man because of him, in my mind, unique perspective.
