I just ran a 10-hour scan, and my computer comes up clean, but whenever I log onto this site, I get crap pop-ups from "Web Guard" even with my pop-up blocker on, and 7769domain.com or somesuch tries to upload the usual spam "Malware detected. Pay us fucktons of cash to remove it." messages, and if I don't kill them while they're connecting, I have to cut the internet cord, and reboot.

Any computer geekery advice to sort this out welcomed.

I **SERIOUSLY** doubt it's from this site. I'm quite certain you picked it up along the way from some damned pop-up ad (due to a third-party-vendor, whom NO ONE will claim responsibility for).

Do you happen to have anything like Malware-Bytes (or any other malware-adware software) on your machine? The crap installed on your machine might try and block your access to any malware cleaners unless you use a different browser than your normal one.

GOOD LUCK!!!! They can be a ROYAL PITA to get rid of (if you want to really get rid of it and all its remnants, you'll need someone to pick through all the processes in your machine during start-up and kill those which don't belong). It's a tedious process (unless they create a better removal process than Microsoft does for its products - which I REALLY doubt), but if you have a friend or neighbor who really knows what they're doing (I hope you do), it is possible to clean it all out without too much inconvenience except to the one pulling their hair out figuring out the next step they're loading under the radar and not immediately obvious for those trying to remove their crap).

When I google "7769domain" I get a lot of links on how to remove it. This one looks like a good place to start

It looks like neither of them are any of the worst malwares to remove.

As computers have gotten cheaper, I saw a, very, intelligent set up.

One computer for work (he's a fabricator). One for financials, and the only one hooked up to the Internet is just for email and browsing

And, frankly, it might be better just to use an iPad etc for that

Not a bad idea at all. A few years ago I helped a neighbor fixing their computer. He had two kids, and the family shared a computer which he also used for financials, and he kept having to struggle with his kids trying to keep them from downloading all sorts of stuff.
I told him that it would be much cheaper and easier for everyone if he just bought another cheap laptop and used that for his business and finances, and only for that. That way he wouldn't have to deal with his kids constantly downloading stuff that slowed down the computer and created potential security leaks. He could just reinstall the family PC whenever it got too bad, which is pretty easy if you have the install discs.
Trying to tell his kids not to install the latest cool tool, app or social network program is a loosing battle. Better to keep the damage limited to dedicated computers without any important stuff on them.

I do that now. The laptop is for internet, the PC is only connected for specific file updates.

And thanks for the info: Malwarebytes just isolated the crap causing the problem, and it seems to be resolved.
Probably some crap the free wifi at the public library helpfully invited onto my computer.

I guess, but most kids want the windows stuff they are familiar with. So I favor the approach of giving it to them, let them use it as much as they like while limiting any damage to their own box, and then just reinstall a fresh setuo if/when they crash it. Of course, it might take a while before there's time to do the re-installation, and that waiting time plus loosing all the content they had in the box is usually enough incentive for kids to learn to be a bit more careful.

Today it's not really an issue here, I think most kids get a laptop through schools with a standard setup. If they have any kind of issue with them, the IT admin at the school simply re-installs the standard setup with a script, loosing everything saved on it. So i think most kids here today are probably more careful than their parents with what they install.
