If it helps any, the error that I get when I try to view active topics when not logged in is, "sorry, you are not allowed to use the search system."

That is a helpful pointer.

I added the search permission to the anonymous user, and I tested the active topics link successfully from another browser. Please see if it works for you now.

It just worked for me. No more "you don't have permission, etc". Thanks!

Just a thought, but the introduction on the Splash page is by Chris and signed as such. Since he is no longer affiliated with the forum, perhaps we should change it?

Also, any thoughts on adding to the emoticon options?

I think your first point was brought up before, but it probably is still a good idea. I think that and a few other things were forgotten after CC had to ban and skip town.

I'm all in favor of increasing the number and variety of smilies. The current options just don't get the job done in all situations.
