How solid are we here at this domain? As I recall, I barely made it here once the forwarding address was deleted off the old forum unexpectedly, and it took some time for everyone to find us. Does this mean we need to find us a new home?

Regarding Chris... what a train wreck it is seeing all this.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Then, you could contact one of the admin bunch to work on getting them back? If half of what's been said is true, we lost some good members. Of course, if the person was a bigger asshole then everyone else here, forget I even brought it up.
Is anybody in contact with Fivetoes? What he said was wrong, but I always thought Chris overreacted.

Really? Y'all text and email each other? Cool.
So far, there's just exactly one forum member who I text or email, and he lives down the road from me.
Not that I want a raft of texts and emails. Don't get me wrong, I'm good with that, but yeah, this came as a bit of a surprise to me.

Except for that one deal I tried to do with Chris, and it makes perfect sense.

But, how will the lost souls who need us, find us?
Some of us know each other in the out side world , I have had several conversations with CC and I have had conversations with other members as well. GC is a good place to make friends and business contacts generally pretty solid people.

Wow, just wow. I could say a whole lot, but I think I'll just keep my trap shut...

Except for this--there's a certain joker on this site that better mind his Ps and Qs now.

The problem before, is that when the du twats decided to get out of the free ice cream business (which was their right), they also took it upon themselves to kill our community outright, and they tried to prevent anybody else from taking it up in their place. That was why they pulled the plug earlier than they had said they would, because Chris and CC weren't quite ready with the new site yet, and doing so kept a general announcement from going out to the membership as a whole. So we had a lot of people who never got the word, and others who straggled in later on. It was a douche move on Kim's part, but it was his site to do with as he wished.

Barring some unforseen catastrophe, that isn't going to happen this time around. In the event that Chris decides to play nasty games with the domain name, CC still controls the server and the database, and can send out a general announcement email to the entire membership anytime he wants. Assuming the email address you registered under is still valid, CC just registers a new domain, points it at the existing IP, sends out an email to all members giving the new address, and we simply rock on.

After adjusting to this since early this AM when I watched it go down online, my $0.02 is to spare everyone any ongoing public drama.
I figure if there were any other way to have handled it, it wouldn't have come to this.
Karma's a bitch, but I'm figuring by what I've seen here over time that we're all pretty well beyond needing to import any more drama into our lives.

My very humble suggestion, as a mere 1/385th (0.25%) honorary stakeholder in this lashup, is that those with the reins either secure this domain, or make appropriate arrangements for a new one, and that we otherwise go about our business with minimal other fuss.
There ain't nobody here perfect, none of us, and AFAIK the axe that's already fallen is spilled milk, and past lamenting further.
I have no wish to see nor hear further details, given that persona non grata status is a pretty severe form of electronic spanking all by itself.
No need to pile on.

Like most wounds, the best treatment for this one is wash it out, bind it up, leave it alone, and let it heal, with the only memory being "Don't do that again, because it leaves a mark!"

Sorry it had to come to this, but really don't need any further details or chapters in the soap opera.
People come and go in our lives, especially the online ones. Some leave a fond memory, and some a bad taste. Let's shake it off and move on.

That's exactly what I was hinting at. Look at me, being all diplomatic.

Well then I feel much more comfortable. I don't want to lose this place.

I don't know of your personal dealings with Kim and Connie, and I'm not going to ask. But I will say that Connie wrote me personally around that time and warned me about continuing involvement with Chris. She didn't give details, but she said they had been wronged in some fashion by him. (ETA - I only just rememberd that email when you mentioned them.) She had only good things to say about CC.

I'm a bit of a Pollyanna, so I tend to only credit (or debit) people with what I've personally experienced. I decided to take my chances and move to the new group when the old one was shut down. I have not regretted it.

My dealings with the du Toit's have only been positive, so in the absence of evidence to the contrary, I'm going to continue to believe that the end of their site had mostly to do with Chris's irregularities and their hardships from Connie's illness. YMMV.

I subscribe to the old idea that holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. Again, YMMV, and I'm not telling anyone else how to live their lives or judging them based on circumstances I don't know. I'm just sayin'.
